40 years alco - the family guarantee of success

It all started some 40 years ago in a small office in Bad Iburg. Heinz and Gertrud Algra were the founders of Alco-food-machines who in September 1977 took over a general distributor of meat processing machines in Germany. The company’s secret to success: An infallible sense for their customers’ future demands. This sense will guarantee the company rapid growth in the international market in the decades to come.

In the 1990s, the Algras decided on their next entrepreneurial milestone: In the future, they would develop, manufacture and distribute machines themselves. The family-run business became an international company, with a worldwide dealer network of more than 50 agencies in countries as far as Australia to North America, Scandinavia to South Africa. The second generation of the Algra family played a big part in this: Both daughters, Nicole Algra and Isabelle Kleine-Ausberg, born Algra, and Thomas Kleine-Ausberg have been with the company for more than 20 years steering the fortunes of the company. Apart from the highest technical quality and the constant expansion of the machine portfolio the family structures, which turn out to be a competitive advantage, guarantee the company’s success. At alco, individual customer requirements are taken into account during the planning phase and implemented during production in an unbureaucratic way. Well-known customers such as Barilla, Wagner Pizza, Böklunder and RUF Lebensmittel, appreciate the Bad Iburger-based company’s strengths.
